"Both practical and philosophical, this book will help bring purpose, joy, and good health to your post-retirement years."—Chip Conley, founder of the Modern Elder Academy and #1 New York Times bestselling author

Nathalie Martin is a chaired professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she teaches mindfulness and law as well as elder law, commercial law, and consumer law. A longtime yoga and meditation teacher and practitioner, she also teaches contemplative practices in varied settings, from hospitals and senior centers to law school classrooms.

Nathalie is the author of over forty articles and nine books, including Lawyering from the Inside Out and Yoga for Lawyers, and her legal scholarship has been cited by the US Supreme Court. With The Inspired Retirement, Nathalie brings her decades of experience and expertise to a general audience.

"Americans are living decades longer than they once did, yet there's no playbook for what to do with those extra decades. The Inspired Retirement is the perfect antidote to the post-retirement question 'What's next?' Both practical and philosophical, this gem of a book will help bring purpose, joy, and good health to your post-retirement years." — Chip Conley, founder of the Modern Elder Academy and #1 New York Times bestselling author

"Millions look forward to retirement but worry at the same time about boredom and inactivity. Nathalie Martin removes the trepidation in The Inspired Retirement by creating a strategic plan to make retirement your greatest adventure." — Arthur C. Brooks, Harvard professor and #1 New York Times bestselling author

"It's time there was a book written for women by a woman on the essential role of purpose in retirement. Nathalie Martin does just that, guiding readers into their own happy and healthy spaces so they can bring their best selves forward for decades." — Maddy Dychtwald, cofounder of Age Wave and author of national bestseller Ageless Aging

"I deeply appreciate how Professor Martin has redefined retirement as a time of continuing contribution to society, whether that contribution is helping a neighbor or starting a business or nonprofit. Also, as a marathoner and tai chi practitioner, I appreciate her emphasis on wellness and the mind-body connection." — Dr. E. Percil Stanford, PhD, president of Folding Voice and of Kind Corporation

"I cannot say enough about how much I love this book! Nathalie Martin brings her characteristic insight, intelligence, and thoughtfulness to a topic that has long needed a book like this. Plenty of others address the financial planning necessary for retirement; this book addresses the much more difficult (and interesting) topic of how to bring meaning to your life once your life's professional phase has concluded. So many retirees are unprepared when they lose what has been the central organizing purpose of their life. This book embraces that challenge in a comprehensive manner that truly will inspire readers to embark on the next phase of their life with joy, curiosity, and discovery." — Todd Peterson, professor of law, George Washington School of Law

"In a helpful combination of information and purposeful exercises, Nathalie Martin encourages us to become still so we can explore that unique sweet spot in which our overall lifespans are shorter, but our day-to-day lives allow us the luxury of determining how we want to spend our limited time on earth. After working in the aging space for six decades, I cannot say enough about the contributions of this exceptional book." — Paul Nathanson, founding executive director of the National Senior Citizens Law Center

"As I approach retirement age, I'm frequently asked 'Where will you live?' and 'What will you do?' Professor Martin's excellent text walked me through the more important questions of 'Do you know what makes you tick?' and 'What roles and activities are most valuable to you personally?'" — Dr. Bruce Andrus, MD, MS, cardiologist
