Adam and Kate McHugh live just outside Solvang on a farm for retired horses and bouncy barn cats. Adam is the author of several books, including the award-winning memoir Blood From a Stone, which helped inspire the story of Ferd and the Magic Hat. Kate fell under the magic spell of books as a little girl, and she has been telling stories ever since. As an English professor, high school teacher, and children's librarian, Kate loves enticing others to discover the wonders of words, too.

Allie Daigle is an illustrator and designer based in New England. Allie was heavily influenced by children's illustrated media in her youth, even creating books, magazines, and stories of her own from a very young age. Through her work, Allie aims to fulfill and inspire the imaginations of a new generation of aspiring young artists and dreamers alike!
