The Jesus Project is a photographic study utilizing a life-sized plastic cast of a religious icon and locating it in various unexpected locations. Harkening back to earlier visual explorations such as "The Red Couch" or the campy traveling garden gnome, the Jesus Project is meant to inspire, contradict and question individuals perceptions of organized religion.

 

Robert Colgan is a photographer from Columbus, Ohio. Born in Elyria, Ohio, he actually spent his formative years living in Louisiana, beginning of his interests in history, architecture and myth. After returning to Ohio, He earned a Fine Arts degree from the Ohio State University.

Robert has been photographing for over 45 years and has exhibited throughout the Midwest. He was an Individual Artists' Fellowship recipient from the Ohio Arts Council in 1992 and is a member of several arts organizations.

In addition to the artistic side, Robert has done commissions for portraiture for the Ohio Arts Council exhibition catalogs and illustrative images for publications by the Ohio State University, Chute-Gerdeman Design, The Wexner Center for the Arts, Capital Crossroads and Formation Studios.
