Feeling older? Hitting speed bumps?

Don't worry about improving yourself. First, get to know yourself better.

Better from Within, the long-awaited sequel to Better with Age: The Ultimate Guide to Brain Training, reveals why your personal story drives how well you age from head to toe.

As you move through the pages of this exciting learning adventure, you will meet the SuperAgers—people here in the U.S. who live long and well over age 80—and discover the 4 lifestyle habits they share. (Spoiler alert: Diet and exercise are not the key to the SuperAgers' success.)

You will also meet the woman with a "golden brain" who beat Alzheimer's disease despite her doomed genes—and learn how a few key choices may have added years to her life.

In Better from Within, award-winning author and brain coach Phyllis Strupp helps you understand:

  1. Why longevity is a meaningless goal
  2. How your story organizes your brain over age 40
  3. Why your brain is designed to rewrite toxic memories over age 40
  4. How to find your ikigai (purpose) even as it is hiding in plain sight within your story
  5. The significance of the 60th birthday (called kanreki in Japan)
  6. What your brain's default network is—and how to protect it from Alzheimer's disease
  7. How other countries have reduced dementia rates as the U.S. rate has risen
Using the latest research findings, this step-by-step guide to a brain that lasts for life equips you with:
  • 7 steps to build a wise brain
  • 7 tools for individual or group exercises
  • 14 illustrations of key points
  • A 3-point summary at the end of each chapter
  • Engagement questions for group discussion
  • Source notes, glossary, and index

In addition, Better from Within includes links to a free online movie that demonstrates how the book's tools can help you tackle life's challenges. A coming-of-middle-age dramedy, Better from Within the movie will motivate you to take charge of your story today.

What is your story? Better from Within will make aging a win for you and your brain.

Phyllis T. Strupp, MBA, is an award-winning author and neuroeducator. Her first book, The Richest of Fare: Seeking Spiritual Security in the Sonoran Desert, won the Independent Publisher Best Mind-Body-Spirit Book award in 2005 and led to her midlife career change from finance to brain training.

Her background includes a "Brain Research in Education" certificate from the University of Washington-Seattle and an MBA in finance from Columbia University. Between 2005 and 2011, she served on the faculty of the CREDO Episcopal Clergy Wellness Program.

Phyllis is also the author of Better with Age: The Ultimate Guide to Brain Training (now in its 4th printing). This theory-to-practice book introduces the Brain Portfolio™ tool, a pioneering approach to "use it or lose it" based on positive outcomes from her many years of teaching neuroplasticity.

The sequel to that book, Better from Within: 7 Steps to a Wise Brain, offers 7 tools to take charge of your personal story. This illustrated guide to a brain that lasts for life demystifies the default network—the brain activity that is derailed by Alzheimer's disease.

Phyllis is the co-screenwriter and executive producer of the award-winning movie Better from Within, a coming-of-middle-age dramedy available on YouTube. Grace, the 46-year-old main character of the fictional movie, uses the Better from Within book's 7 tools to navigate several midlife speedbumps. Better from Within the movie has been recognized by 10 film festivals worldwide to date.

Since 1997, Phyllis has lived in Carefree, Arizona, with her husband of 40 years, Peter Strupp. They enjoy performing together in community theater productions. She also sings in a local community choir.
