Hello Pine Lake! is a story of a deep bond that forms between a girl and her grandfather through their love of nature and a beautiful place called Pine Lake. This is also a story about how learning continues to happen throughout one’s life in the simplest of forms but is nevertheless enduring. This story sheds light on the meaningful significance of a child’s relationship with a grandparent as well as the immense amount of wisdom nature provides to us each day.

Sarah Huiskes grew up in the Midwest and was blessed to spend many moments of her childhood at a lake that continues to be special to her and her family. Sarah’s hope in sharing this story is to encourage children and their families to explore all that nature has to share and teach us as well as bring attention to the importance of respecting all creatures and the places they call home.
