Welcome to a world of disintegrating reality.  We are awash in "alternative facts" that attempt to alter our perceptions with repetitive untruths.  In Apples & Oranges ... A Photographic Essay, fine art photographer Cheryl Aden examines this stream of lies and untruths with thirty-one images of apples and oranges that perfectly capture our current moment.  Each image is accompanied by a quote from various novelists, poets, philosophers, activists, saints, spiritual teachers and more from across the ages, such as Lao Tzu, John Keats, St. Catherine of Siena, Søren Kierkegaard, Flannery O'Connor, Thomas Hobbes, Malcolm X, George Orwell, and Ann Landers.

Cheryl Aden is a fine art photographer living in New York City. She trained academically as an actress, but segued to a role behind the camera when she left the theatre and film world to become a photographer. Cheryl studied at the International Center of Photography, where she also served as a Teaching Assistant. Her work has been exhibited at El Barrio’s Artspace PS109 (Women Celebrate Women 2020, 2021); JVS Art Project Space; Sunset Art Studios; and she was the featured artist for the Choral Composer/Conductor Collective, 2018–2019. She is a member of the New York Artists Circle and is part of their curated virtual exhibit Lost and Found: A Personal Vision and others. Her photographs can be found in private collections nationwide. Cheryl’s images explore the sensuosity and drama of the natural world, where organic life often takes center stage. Always a bit of the rebel, her work challenges the traditional notion of beauty. You can explore more of her images at www.cheryladen.com.
