A charming picture book about dinner, this family read-aloud celebrates healthy eating through the whimsical and approachable voice of a young dessert lover!
Tara St. Martin has over fifteen years of experience in the teaching world. She uses her knowledge from the classroom and her own kitchen table to share a message of balance and moderation in dinner dynamics. Her philosophy embraces dessert's place on the menu without any mom-guilt—it's all about finding the "sweet" spot!
This healthy food kids' book encourages . . .
- eating wholesome meals,
- busing your plates,
- sharing with siblings,
- disrupting children's hyperfocus on treats, and
- finding a delicious balance on each day's plate.
One silly rhyming line at a time, Treats After Dinner helps instill healthy eating habits for the youngest—and pickiest!—eaters. Drawing from real-life experiences, this story reminds parents that they aren't alone in facing the challenges of mealtime.
"With two picky eaters at our dinner table, my family loves reading this book and reinforcing the importance of eating balanced meals."
— Kolina Cicero, author of Rosie and the Hobby Farm
Tara St. Martin lives with her husband and three children in Minnesota. She has spent much of her career in the education field as a teacher, coach, and coordinator for community education. Her experiences in motherhood along with her love for creative endeavors allowed her to explore a new found passion in writing children's books. She hopes families can enjoy this book and the reminder of healthy habits (with treats in moderation of course!) as much as her family has. Tara's favorite sweet treat after dinner is an ice cream sundae! Follow Tara on Instagram at @author_tarast.martin.
