Each year at Frontenac State Park, goats are brought to the blufftop prairie to eat invasive buckthorn bushes. In the fall, after the buckthorn has been eaten, the goats are taken back to spend the winter on a local farm. But one of them, Minnie, decides she wants to stay!
Accompanied by her animal friends through the autumn and winter, Minnie sees sights and climbs heights she never could have imagined—and above all, she learns that if she's brave, life will always be one big adventure.

Kari Vick's childhood home was perched on the edge of a bluff above the Mississippi River in Red Wing, Minnesota. Bright lights of passing barges lit up her bedroom walls at night as lonely trains whistled their way along the river valley far below. She lives with her family along the north shore of Lake Superior in Lutsen, Minnesota, but visits home, and Frontenac State Park, as often as possible.
