The current Nodin Poetry Anthology continues a tradition established in 1974 of featuring celebrated writers alongside talented wordsmiths who are only beginning to make themselves known to the reading public. There are poems about farming love widowhood the soul graciousness joy parents and children cavemen and astronauts politics and knitting graveyards and string theory. Classical themes such as "Sijo with Geese Frost and Moonlight" follow on the heels of less orthodox creations such as "To Those Walking Backwards Across America." There are poems set in cities in small towns and the untrammeled countryside. Newcomers appear alongside veteran such as Duluth poet laureate Bart Sutter - Minnesota's poet laureate - Joyce Sutphen, and Saint Paul poet laureate Carol Connolly.
