Hella Buchheim started her company Personal Histories to give voice to people who had a story to tell. Personal Histories works with people who want to write their own stories. Too many times families are left with a family history consisting of only a genealogical chart that records births and deaths of family members only but gives no insight to the lives of those family members lead. Her company’s mission is to help as many people as possible leave an interesting family legacy.
Hella frequently conducts workshops and writing seminars. She does one-on-one coaching sessions to help people stay motivated throughout the writing process. Her enthusiasm and knowledge of life story writing is contagious at her speaking engagements. Erinnerung, Gedanken, Memories…Survival of the human spirit - her mother’s life story - was her first published book. She also has written the CD-ROM A Plate Full of Memories...a coaching guide to creating a family memory cookbook and blogs about the subject often at http://blog.platefullofmemories.com She is currently working on A Hmong Boy’s Story with Yakao Yang as special editor.
Born in Cochabamba, Bolivia (her parents were Holocaust survivors from Germany), she grew up in Cincinnati, OH and graduated from the Ohio State with a BA in Communications and a minor in Journalism. Over the course of her professional career, Hella has written and produced award-winning television programs and written local television and radio commercials. She now resides in Hopkins, MN.
